Lily's going home!

Red girl has found her home! She is going to travel to Florida with me in a few days to join her new family there. Her new name is Lily--I love it!

We've got him cornered!

Last evening my husband, Kirk, climbed under the sink to replace our leaky kitchen faucet. I went back to my office to work, but a short time later I heard him hollering for me to grab the camera and come quick. I went racing out and discovered him covered in puppies. They had all climbed up on his chest while he was on his back stuck under the garbage disposal and were licking his face. Of course they scattered when I came in the room, and I couldn't get the shot of all of them fast enough, but Red girl kept climbing back up to get a snuggle!

Another goodbye!

Today we said goodbye to Purple girl (Lucy). Her new family has been visiting her weekly since she was just a few weeks old, and I think she recognized them today at the vet's office where we met for her final health check. Lucy cuddled right up in their arms and didn't give me another look!

Is this a horse in our backyard??

This is a BIG dog. Truman weighs 160 pounds, and when he leans against you--better have your feet planted! On his second visit the puppies were much more confident--although still cautious.

Purple girl found the end she felt safest at!

That's a long look up, isn't it Red girl!
Truman stands so patiently, I think the puppies just think he's a tree!

Millie and Red girl--playing? Yes, playing.

Millie is becoming an energetic adolescent--I can't wait until she outgrows this active stage and we get our lover puppy back! I think what Mark Twain said about teenagers also applies to dogs: "When a child turns 14 put them in a barrel and feed them through the hole. When they turn 16, plug the hole!" Millie is four 1/2 months old now, and I'm getting close to putting her in the barrel for a couple months!!! The older dogs won't always put up with her energy, but Red girl tolerates it very well. I was watching closely as I filmed this segment to see if Red girl was feeling afraid or bullied--not a sign of it! Red girl is amazing! She isn't afraid to dish it back, but submits willingly, too, when she can tell that's the best course. I really like this puppy!

Red girl "Ella" is hoping for her perfect home!

Who can resist this face!!
Ella is a delightful combination of spunky and sweet. She is confident and fearless, but comes running when I call her. She loves to explore, wandering back to check in with me, and then heads off again to follow a new smell in the yard. She relates so well to the bigger and older dogs--she is very playful with them but is willing to submit when they tell her to toe the line.

The guardian of Green girl was over yesterday to introduce her Great Dane--Ella was not at all fearful when it was her turn to meet Truman. She pranced right over and wandered under and around him. He stood patiently until she nipped his paw. He lifted it up gently and all of a sudden she realized how BIG he was and skittered away for a few minutes--then right back to check him out some more. He's coming back over for a visit in a couple days--I'll get some pictures of him then with the puppies--my camera battery died just at the wrong time yesterday!

Sorry for the over-exposed picture above--my SLR camera is broken--out for repairs. Ella really is a beautiful red/apricot! This not-so-great indoor picture below shows her coloring better.

Farewell to Pink girl

Pink girl (Pali short for Napali) went home today. She is such a sweet little thing--I know she'll get all the snuggling she wants with her new family. I'm going to miss this cuddly little pup!

What--a camera? I've never seen one before!

This was a hilarious photo shoot in the backyard yesterday! It was as though they had never seen the camera before! Everyone except Red girl tucked tail and ran--even our older puppy, Millie was spooked. As soon as they heard my voice, though, they swarmed me--took me down! Oh--that's YOU behind that scary object!

First puppy to go home!

Orange girl (Lucia Marie) saying goodbye--going home today with her awesome new family. We'll see her often, since her new boy is our grandson's good friend!

They have grown so much!

It's amazing to watch how fast they grow--they are so agile and confident now. Quite a difference from their first timid time outside!

Eight weeks old!

The puppies are getting ready to go to their new homes!

We are keeping Green girl in our breeding program. She will be living just around the corner from us in her guardian home.

Pink, Purple and Orange have been adopted by wonderful families. Red girl is still available!
