Magic is mobbed everytime she comes near the puppies. She is soooo done with nursing them, but they still think she's fair game....... They have learned to use the doggy door as they chase their mom!

Togetherness!
At about six weeks old, we put the crate in the weaning box so the puppies can get used to sleeping in a crate. They didn't seem to have a problem with sleeping in the crate! All aboard!
We play hard and we sleep hard! That's Red girl hanging over the edge of the box--amazing she is sound asleep in that position!

We had a family reunion last week--my daughter, the professional photographer, took some great shots of puppies and grandchildren! Red girl got bored with posing and decided to bail out--she surprised us all by taking a fearless leap out of the wagon!

Litter box introduction
At three to four weeks, we change the configuration of the whelping box and add a section for litter box training. The whelping box is now a weaning box. In a few more weeks, we'll add a crate to the box to start the puppies getting used to sleeping in a crate.
Magic is beginning to spend less time with her puppies. She is in and out of the box frequently checking on them, but she is also enjoying her time away from them--sleeping in her favorite spot at my feet as I work at my desk. If they make a squeak, though, she rockets down the hall to check on them!
